Aircraft registration status and expiration: what to check
Check the registration status, certificate dates and source edition together, then confirm current information with the FAA. A dated database entry cannot settle the aircraft’s present operating or airworthiness status.

Use the latest official information for a current decision
FAA registration guidance includes certificate duration, renewal and other registration processes. Rules and individual records can change. Consult the current FAA guidance and aircraft record instead of calculating validity from a remembered term or a sale listing.

Compare the dates explicitly
Keep these dates separate when saving your research. An older edition should remain visibly dated even when you open the report today.
| Date or state | What it tells you |
|---|---|
| Source edition date | When the underlying registration snapshot was obtained. |
| Certificate or expiration field | The value recorded in that source; not a live renewal check. |
| Current official inquiry | The FAA information available at the time of your verification. |
| Unresolved discrepancy | Which date or status still needs official clarification. |
Registration and maintenance need different evidence
Do not read a registration status as a physical-condition inspection, title finding or AD compliance determination. Ask the maintenance professional to review aircraft records and installed configuration separately. If the public date and the supplied certificate disagree, retain both observations and resolve the discrepancy before relying on either.
When an Aerovidence field is unavailable
A withheld or missing field stays unavailable; it is not an expired or valid result. Follow the official source link and request supporting paperwork from the seller. Our report keeps its original source date and does not silently convert a dated snapshot into a current FAA certificate check.
